The distinction bestowed on Lars Lundin in recognition of good cooperation
and the promotion of Swedish oil spill prevention and response by the Swedish Coast Guard in Hanko, 1999.
SWEDEN’S FIRST VESSEL EQUIPPED WITH A CHANNEL SYSTEM AND STIFF-BRUSH COLLECTOR
On an introductory visit and having seen M/V JOHANNA, the progressive Swedish authorities immediately understood the vast potential in open-sea oil spill prevention and response. As a result of good cooperation, the Swedish Coast Guard was the first authority to approve the vessel, which was equipped with a channel system and stiff-brush collector. Lars Lundin considers the Swedish Coast Guard to have been a forerunner in the promotion of open-sea oil spill prevention and response.
In addition to the Swedish Coast Guard’s KBV051, Lars Lundin’s stiff-brush technology was also installed on vessels TV 050 and KBV 10. These were vessels which the Swedish authorities had considered to be best-suited for oil spill tasks.
